Description

A warm, comforting apple dessert made with just 4 ingredients. Perfect for fall gatherings and quick weeknight treats.

Ingredients

Scale

2 cans (21 oz each) apple pie filling
1 box (15.25 oz) yellow cake mix
3/4 cup unsalted butter, sliced into thin pats
1 tsp ground cinnamon

Instructions

Step 1: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9x13 inch baking dish with non-stick spray.
Step 2: Pour the two cans of apple pie filling into the bottom of the prepared dish and spread them out into an even layer.
Step 3: Sprinkle the ground cinnamon over the apple filling for extra warmth and flavor.
Step 4: Evenly sprinkle the dry yellow cake mix over the top of the apples. Do not stir the ingredients together.
Step 5: Place the thin slices of butter in a grid pattern across the entire surface of the cake mix, covering as much of the dry powder as possible.
Step 6: Bake for 45 to 50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the apple filling is bubbling around the edges.
Step 7: Allow the cake to cool for 10 minutes before serving warm with ice cream.

Notes

For a crunchier topping, add 1/2 cup of chopped walnuts or pecans on top of the cake mix before adding the butter.
