Description

A vibrant, refreshing, and festive non-alcoholic punch bursting with the bright flavors of tart cranberry, sweet orange, and a hint of aromatic rosemary, perfect for any holiday gathering. Easily adaptable for an alcoholic version.

Ingredients

Scale

1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup water (for simple syrup)
3-4 sprigs fresh rosemary, plus more for garnish
6 cups 100% cranberry juice, chilled
2 cups fresh orange juice, chilled
4-6 cups sparkling water, ginger ale, or lemon-lime soda, chilled
1 cup fresh cranberries, for garnish
1 orange, thinly sliced, for garnish
Ice

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the rosemary simple syrup. In a small saucepan, combine 1 cup granulated sugar and 1 cup water. Bring to a simmer over medium heat, stirring until the sugar is completely dissolved.
Step 2: Remove the saucepan from heat and add 3-4 fresh rosemary sprigs. Let the rosemary steep in the hot syrup for at least 30 minutes, or up to an hour for a stronger flavor. Remove and discard the rosemary sprigs, then let the simple syrup cool completely.
Step 3: In a large punch bowl or pitcher, combine the chilled cranberry juice, chilled orange juice, and the cooled rosemary simple syrup. Start with about 1/2 cup of simple syrup and add more to taste, depending on your preferred sweetness. Stir well to combine.
Step 4: Just before serving, gently pour in the chilled sparkling water (or ginger ale/lemon-lime soda). Stir gently to combine, being careful not to lose too much effervescence.
Step 5: Add plenty of ice to the punch. Garnish generously with fresh cranberries, thin orange slices, and additional fresh rosemary sprigs. Serve immediately and enjoy your festive Christmas drinks!

Notes

The rosemary simple syrup can be made up to a week in advance and stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Always chill all liquid ingredients thoroughly before mixing for the best results and to maintain effervescence. For an adult version, add 1-2 cups of vodka, gin, or prosecco just before serving.
